Before doing this exercise and really watching and tracking what I eat on a daily bases I didn’t think it was going to have such an impact that it had on me.  I knew that I didn’t eat the best foods and after going through the day and even looking at the food I ate over the week, I had fast food at least one time every day and sometimes twice a day. One good thing I did notice was that I have cut down on drinking soda. I have started drinking water or some kind of juice instead of soda.

            I noticed that in my diet I was getting plenty of refined grains and protein but I was not getting nearly enough vegetables, fruits and dairy. Not getting enough fruits and vegetables has really hurt my performance on the field. I do not have enough energy to compete at the highest level possible. As well as noting having enough energy, eating a lot of fast food comes with a ton of sodium. After just reporting one days’ worth of eating I have doubled the amount of sodium that I should consume in on day. If I would just cut down on eating fast food and eat something healthy and substantial it would change my energy levels and my awareness.

            After designing I daily meal of food categories that I need consume every day and the foods that I need to stay away from. I have started eating some kind of fruit every morning with a glass of milk. For lunch I either pack a salad or sandwich, or I go and eat at a healthy restaurant. I have always stopped drinking soda for good. I only drink water or all natural juices.

            It was very difficult for me to stop eating so much fast food and start eating healthier food. I still have my days when I have to go get a burger and fries, but I have cut down on those days so that they only happen one or two times a week. One of the hardest things to change was drinking soda. I use to drink at least two leaders of soda a day. Now I only drink water with my meals or a natural fruit juice. I know at the end of the day that this will benefit me in the long run and keep me healthy and active for the rest of my life. I just want to create good habits for when I am older.
